All BSD schools on Monday, April 8, 2024! This includes BTC, our alternative programs, sports, and after-school programs.
This Eclipse Day closure is aligned with all other districts in the region and will be treated as a Snow Day.
We had initially planned for an early dismissal on April 8. However, with 150K+ visitors expected to view the total eclipse in our region alone and several road closures (and great events!) planned in the City, I believe that the safest and most logical thing to do is to close for the day.
I hope that families are able to connect and experience this generational event together in a safe environment without having to worry about travel and schooling. The Office of Teaching and Learning has assembled resources for both educators and families to use, and we will work hard to distribute eclipse glasses to students and staff before the eclipse weekend! (Big thanks again to ECHO, Leahy Center for Lake Champlain!) You can also visit the State of Vermont’s website for more information on Vermont’s planning for the total solar eclipse.
In partnership,
Tom
